This is my 3rd summer in UK, we have reached 31ºC today, it is so hot, you will be surprised that I can survive 37º-40ºC in Malaysia, what is 31ºC to me?
Priory Garden
It makes me pondering about this too. In Malaysia, we have air-condition everywhere we go, we have cars, we have air-conditioned buses, we have air-conditioned houses, the least we will have fan in every room, you don't have air-conditioned room most of everywhere, electric and gas bills are very expensive, you don't have fan, you don't usually find a fan.... as there are only a few days in UK that are in fact HOT, most of the time are quite cooling and cold.
In Green Street Green when I was walking along the roadside on the way home from Ashley Garden at about 7:30pm
Yes, I felt it in my first and second year, perhaps because I have air-conditioned room when I was in Ingram Avenue the second year, I didn't feel the heat and ever thought of needing a fan. Not these few days, I hardly fall asleep, I need to fan myself to sleep, and it took really really long time. I miss cold days now.
Enjoying ice-cream, burnt cheese cake and mango pudding in Auntie Laura house at about 9pm
I used to admire Marcia the full time housewife who are able to cook three meals everyday, and spoke to myself I will never know how to do it, cooking Chinese food is a difficult thing too do.
All I did was cooking one meal during MCO time, the best is chicken chop, or noodle soup and never had to cook rice, the rest of my time were just baking…
When I became a confinement nanny, not given enough time to worry about this cooking skill, I had to do it, and learning to do it, not that I worried about, cooking isn’t difficult at all, I was thinking too much back then, now? I just need to open fridge stare at the ingredients and I know what to cook and how to cook.
My postpartum lady given me a lots of grace to allowing me spending as much time as I want in term of preparing food for herself, as my cooking is too delicious to her and hubby.
Cooking three meals a day is not a dream anymore, I just can do it!
Ever since I made a decision to work as confinement lady in Singapore, I have no doubt and worry at all, it is such a privilege chance to pick up new knowledge and skill, I have no reason why not to take up this opportunity.
Many people asked what about your music teaching career? I told them, this knowledge, experience and skill are not going to disappear, I can always come back to continue what I am doing now, but age is catching up, people wouldn't want to hire an old lady for confinement job, you need energy, you need healthy mind and body to fulfil this important duty in postpartum period.
To take up the challenge when my age still considering "young" in 2nd half of my life. I always wanted to be a missionary, this opportunity comes in the right time, training myself to be able to survive in any circumstances - meaning in any type of household, haha you knew it, one type of rice feeding hundreds type of people. Relationship and communication are complicated lessons to learn.
Another two days, I am off to Johor Senai for training, I have no idea of what kind of subjects, however will try to update in the blog.
I have gone through some checking over two confinement service companies, the reason I decide to choose the one I am attending simply because the commission they give to confinement lady is higher, and many extra commission is stated clearly in the conditions, no hanky panky. The first company is the largest no doubt, but the benefits are limited and lesser.
From the beginning of July, broadcast my decision and start collecting informations and learning baby care, mother care, confinement herbs and confinement dishes, I was amazed how important to have right knowledge of postpartum care, I wish to give my best to help babies and mothers to have a good and enjoyable 28 days with me, and be blessed with the knowledge and care that I am about to give to them.

Also looking forward to continue to serve The Lord in daily basis.
Here is a simple steps on how to set program on SSODD SA60-1A combat oven.
This feature is very useful to me, as when I bake, I would like to change temperature to achieve best texture bread from it. For example baking cinnamon rolls, I would like to bake it at 155°C for 11 minutes, and 170°C for 4 minutes for a golden colour crunchy crust, yet softer bread inside it.
That is very great feature that you must make good use of it.
The new oven that I invested with, SSODD 60 litre, steam injection and a convection oven, something so new to me, that I am like a newbie in baking.
This oven is awesome, as the temperature and fan speed did help to distribute heat evenly, that I get the best cream cheese buns, cinnamon rolls, baking a few trays at once.., the result is they are super super fluffy!
The best cinnamon rolls I have ever baked.
The only difficulty I have is on sourdough bread. Fist attempt, temperature too high and however they look super sexy though.
And later, with some adjusted, I would prefer softer and thiner crust.
Every baking is an experiment to me, different settings.
SSODD SA60-1A
It has program setting, I am playing with it this week. Will come out an introduction and steps to do it in new post.
The first news from my best friend, she texted me: "finally is your turn!"
Amazing, she helped a few of us to check our appointment everyday and night, so thoughtful of her.
Then I checked a sms from MySejahtera: "Please check the details of the covid-19 vaccination appointment for ID no xxxxx in MySejahtera." The message was sent in early morning 5:34am.
Then I open MySejahtera app to check on the appointment details, I am so overwhelmed by this news. I have been waiting and checking since the day I registered in April.
Looking at friends and relatives who have gotten jab, was feeling sad the day I failed to get AZ, the next day read some of Facebook friends posted that even they have failed to get appointment for AZ on the day, but the next day they got the surprise news from MySejahtera saying the appointment is set for them.
I was devastated day by day after checking on MySejahtera yet nothing appear in the "1st Dose appointment". I check the news from the app every day and night, disappointment that is never fails me...
The feeling is like having constipation.... such long time now has finally released!
To me, in such pandemic time, whichever and whatever vaccine that works, I will take it as earlier as possible, not until everyone in this country is vaccinated, the economic can't get back on track. Therefore if you are not in a health complication, why choose the brand, get yourselves vaccinated as soon as possible. Is for the best of the country and people.
Due to the pandemic reason that we have started teaching online since last year March, some students have preferred to continue online for the safety purposes.
Posing in front of zoom before class.
The pandemic has been stretching till no end, students can not be stopped learning, some have rang up to request continue classes online in order to keep them going.
Is important to phone positioning, some has limited support, that video couldn't show the keyboard or fingers in a clearer way, teachers have very much need to depend on hearing instead of just watching, and the time of correction is always being delayed, hence it took more effort from both parties when giving online class.
Extra times, extra preparations... with extra love!
A diagram for young children after explaining online about what semitone is.
marking with screenshot, correcting with photo edit, which I've making good use of the drawing feature on phone.
Showing how to place key signature after explanation online, prepared an extra video for them to follow after class.
Student shared a moment when she practising with the recorded piano accompaniment prepared for her.
Diagram for young violinist after explaining position on new string with new notes and fingers.
It could be fun and enjoyable when having online music classes. There is a student who had quitted many years ago, and now comes back for online class. As there isn't any hassle of arranging transport to send her for classes anymore.
Making kombucha in tropical country like Malaysia, it doesn't take 10 days of 1st fermentation, I don't like it too sour, hence it only takes about 5 days of 1st fermentation then move to 2nd fermentation.
Pineapple Kombucha
Strawberry Kombucha
Scoby
Ration of 3 litre Kombucha 1st fermentation:
Scoby and juicy : Water : Sugar : Tea leaves
Scoby+ 10% juice (from previous batch) : 100% Filtered Water (I am using Kangen 9.5pH) : 10% Sugar : 2% tea leaves.
250g juice : 2.5 litre water : 250g Sugar : 50g Tea leaves ( I'd like it to have stronger tea taste)
Tools you need in 1st fermentation:
Pot and stove, sugar, tea leaves, 3 litre glass container, clean cloth, elastic band, scoby and kombucha juice starter.
1st Fermentation Steps:
1) Boil water with tea leaves. Let's cool it till warm about 40°C.
2) Add sugar to mix well.
3) Pour everything in a 3 litre jar, cover with kitchen towel or cloth, using an elastic band to secure the edges to avoid little bugs from sneaking in.
4) Let sit for 5 days. You should be able to see a thin layer of new scoby is starting to form on 3rd day.
Kombucha in 1st fermentation in 3 litre glass container
2nd Fermentation Ingredients:
Fruits that you preferred, play around with your choice, I like ginger (also for more fizzy) too much! 100g Sugar if you are using sweet fruits like grapes, oranges, pineapple, mango... 120g sugar if you are making ginger kombucha. Adjust sugar amount to your liking.
Tools you need for 2nd fermentation:
Sugar, fruits, chopping board and knife, bottles (flip-top/ screw cap), a sieve, a jar
2nd Fermentation Steps:
1) Diced fruits, even ginger is good! Size that can fit in bottle easily.
2) Remove Scoby.
3) Prepare a jar, add sugar in it, use a sieve to sift away unwanted recidue then only pour kombucha into it slowly, bubbles is forming in this Carbonation reaction, then slowly teh-tarik the rest of kombucha until they are evenly mixed.
4) Reserve 250g juice for next making.
5) Put in fruit dices in every bottle (the amount for each bottle roughly like 1 1/2 grapes), fill kombucha until bottle neck by using the jar, allow 1-2 inches of head space.
6) Let it sit in room temperature for 2 days before storing in fridge.
Sometimes you get surprises, some too strong batch and yet you forget to store them in fridge!
Only happened once.... that I won't forget anymore!
Coming Friday 2nd April is celebrating Good Friday, our home group has invited a man from Canada who was forced to stay in Malaysia because of MCO. Where he was initially planned to pay a visit to his sister last year.
Gladly Lee Yong met him and invite him to join us this Friday. Here is the list of worship pieces with guitar chords.
I loved the design when I first saw from Ameenskateshop posted in Instagram, even it is 7.75 size. Initial motive is to keep it as a collection.
Out of sudden, the old skateboard grip tape peel-off... and thought could be the reason it was kept it in the car most of the time. Minilogo deck was still with Ameen, in this situation I will have to hurry to collect it from him. Therefore I collected the deck and dashed home to start fixing it up.
To change old skateboard to new deck, first have to remove trucks, reminded myself do not mix up with front and back trucks.
After fixing grip tape... gosh.. I forgot about nose and tail, somehow only realised it after I have screwed up both trucks, at this time I only hope that I will be lucky enough to get the right truck put on the right place... unfortunately, lucky doesn't belong to me!
Sigh... I am so SO forced to REPEAT the process of removing trucks and putting it back. Lastly remove wheels for light brushing (cleaning), and swapped wheels position.
I took extra effort and time for this simple job. However am proud of myself able to finish it by my own, and enjoyed it so much.
New Minilogo deck just got home!
Beautiful paisley design.
Grip tape is trimmed, not quite nicely done.
Shah Alam Skatepark, long missed the fun since 2020 Nov, I am forced to stop skateboarding due to legs injuries.
This is my favourite bowl.
Things to gear up when playing in bowls skatepark.
Learned from experience, that I can not overwork my legs, hence is only allowed to play one hour.
