Copied this from a facebook friend's status:
When I was 10 years old -
Rubber meant eraser
Gay meant happy
Straight meant linear
Making Out meant 'logical detection'
Cock meant rooster
Pussy meant cat
Stag meant a male deer
Prick meant a jab
Poke meant a nudge
Chick meant a baby hen
Screw meant a carpenter's implement
A Tit was always for Tat!!
Damn! - English has changed so much!
Jane's note:
I asked Gab if he understands what cock means, he nodded his head and answer: 'penis', I corrected him and said:"No, it's a rooster!", then I continued to ask him the second question:"Do you know what does pussy mean?"
He grinned and answered:"A cat." His grin has given me an answer that he does understand both old and new English well.

To Repair Your Relationship Problems, First Heal Your Pride
To Repair Your Relationship Problems, First Heal Your Pride
By LEIGH PRETNAR COUSINS, MSInstead, they spend their mental energies hating the subject, being defensive, avoiding the work, making up excuses, etc.
The very same thing happens with adults. When a person feels failed or embarrassed or hurt, his mental energies automatically flow towards escaping or relieving those bad feelings.
Relationship change requires facing the problem squarely, with lots of energy, clarity, bravery and generosity. But if your pride is in tatters, you won’t be able to do this. You’ll be too consumed with protecting your own injured Self.
Building and maintaining this positive self-image is a core psychological task. Essentially, the Self wants to believe two things:
- I am a “good” person
- I am in control of my life
Many therapies ask people to own their bad behavior and admit to their weaknesses. And of course, addressing these issues is important.
But, just like my students, who, the more they are chastised and embarrassed and made to feel failed, try less hard and hate school more, adults resist putting themselves in postures which make them feel failed and diminished.
No one wants to feel “I am a NOT a good person,” or “I am NOT in control of my life.” And so, they rationalize. The test was unfair, the class is boring…my partner doesn’t understand me, the relationship doesn’t meet my needs, my lover is the one with the problems…
I am successful with my students because I focus on their strengths and I help them restore their positive self-image and realize their potential.
Similarly, if you are in a troubled relationship, you must care for your pride.
- Spend time with friends who build you up (but who don’t put your partner down).
- Keep up activities that give you a sense of pride and accomplishment (school, volunteer work, spending time with your kids, etc).
- Take the high road. Behave honorably and generously with your partner.
- Own your mistakes, yes, but don’t wallow in what a terrible, weak person you are.
- Try to understand your actions and your intentions. Keeping a journal can help.
- Avoid behaviors that will make you feel worse in the long run (lying, cheating, spitefulness, etc).
- Don’t characterize yourself as a victim, a loser, a failure. Focus on your strengths.
- Get active and be responsible about the relationship problem. Do something about it! Seek counseling or therapy. Be brave and dignified enough to ask for assistance.

Immortal
Silky lies to blur your sights
Your eyes that see twisted from wrong to right
The heart feels but weak to guide
Going round in murky site
Who could withstand the depth of desires?
Tartness words built its tower of guilt
Spun with thousands strand of melancholy
Painted in sorrows of folly
Whispering endless sympathy
Who could surmount the height of filthiness?
Where does my help come from?
No one but You, my Father
Your love is immortal medicine
Cured many of steel hearts from ancient scenes
Your joy is immortal strength
Broke tens of thousand anxious traps
Your love is higher, higher than Heavens
Your joy is stronger, stronger than any trouble in the world.
Your love is deeper, deeper than any ocean
Your joy is stronger, stronger than all power of the earth.
Psalm 57:10
For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies.

Now and then.... Jogoya Dinner Buffet
I've bought two Jogoya Japanese Dinner Buffet coupons from Groupon at a special rate RM65 which UP is RM102.10.
The dinner was booked for 10 pax at 7:30pm, due to the month of Ramadhan, the traffic condition between 4pm to 7pm is foreseen, therefore I had to leave ABRSM seminar after lunch 2pm, headed back from Prince Hotel, KL, to pick up Gab then drove to KL and reached at 4:15pm. This trip was easier and smoother , as I drove the wrong road in the morning and took me big round driving back to Jalan Conlay. I drove carefully, kept my car to the right lane after 'SMART' tunnel.
Don't be surprised that I don't know how to go Pavillion, as I never drove there alone, and seldom went to this place nowadays. Jogoya restaurant is located in Starhill, which is opposite of Pavillion, I parked my car in Standard Chartered building as I was told the parking fee is cheaper, but ended up still the same, I have to pay RM18 from 4pm to 10pm, RM3 per hour. I think it's my most expensive parking fee I have ever paid this year or years...... !
Well, it's good to walk around in this place, as they are more likely built close to each other. We were so early, so that we had about 1 hour window-shopping in Pavillion, then strolled around the empty space outside the shopping mall, there were so many people like I was in Singapore, people every where.
Gab was certainly showed his tiring face, and shuffled on the street, sat down on a pole made himself turning round and round on the pole, watched people crossing road and passed by him, at about 5:30pm.
We shopped at Lot 10, and headed to Starhill at 6:30pm, took a short rest on a comfy couch in waiting area. Before 7pm 'check-in' for our dinner.
He didn't have much I know, he was just busying, helping, walking and looking, each time he spent about 15 minutes away, and only came back with a plate which only have a few things on it, but he definitely enjoyed the free flow of Häagen-Dazs® ice-cream!
I'd love him to meet my friends and I meet his too, hence we have many mutual friends, that helps us on sharing stories about our friends.
And it is certainly help in improving his social communication skill which will benefit him for life. It was a wonderful day for both of us.

My beloved mini scones
I miss eating scones, especially when you consume it fresh from the oven, oooomph, it's just yummy!
| Can you able to spot the odd one? It's kneaded by Gab. |
Mini Scone Recipe: Same as Cream scone recipe
2 1/2 cups (330 grams) all-purpose flour
1/4 cup (100 grams) granulated white sugar (1/2 cup if you would like to eat it without any jam and cream)
2 teaspoons (10 grams) baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
1/3 cup (75 grams)cold unsalted butter,
(I was running out of egg, I skipped this round, not much difference is made)
lightly beaten1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/2 cup (120 ml) milk or heavy cream
1/2 cup milk powder (Optional) I liked to add this to give more sweetness
(I did not glaze with egg this round)
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and place the rack in the middle of the oven. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut the butter into small pieces and blend into the flour mixture with a pastry blender or two knives. The mixture should look like coarse crumbs.
In a small measuring cup combine the heavy cream, beaten egg and vanilla. Add this mixture to the flour mixture slowly. Stir just until combined. Do not over mix.
In a small measuring cup combine the heavy cream, beaten egg and vanilla. Add this mixture to the flour mixture slowly. Stir just until combined. Do not over mix.
Tips:
Pastry doughs should be handled as little as possible and kept cool. Chill mixing bowl into the refrigerator for 30 minutes beforehand.
It's good to dip your hands in a cold water and dry thoroughly before kneading.
Pastry doughs should always be rested in the refrigerator before rolling out.
Knead dough gently on a lightly floured surface. Roll or pat the dough into a circle that is about 7 inches (18 cm) round. Then, using a 2 1/2 inch (6.5 cm) round cookie cutter, cut the dough into rounds. Place the rounds on the prepared cookie sheet, spacing a few inches apart. Brush the tops of the scones with a little cream. This helps to brown the tops of the scones during baking.
Bake for about 15 - 18 minutes or until nicely browned and a toothpick inserted into the center of a scone comes out clean. Remove from oven and transfer to a wire rack to cool. Serve with Devon cream or softly whipped cream and your favorite jam.
Recipe for Devon Cream is here.
